 An NFC-Based Cable Verification Application

The rapidly evolving work environment has accelerated the need for efficient connectivity management, particularly within data centers. This has led to the advent of eTagger, an innovative Near Field Communication (NFC)-based application specifically designed to streamline cable verification. eTagger revolutionizes traditional methods by eliminating manual, handwritten labeling and replacing it with accurate and efficient electronic labeling.

The eTagger Application: A Closer Look

eTagger utilizes NFC technology to electronically label both ends of a cable connecting two devices, ensuring an accurate and expedited cable verification process. It leverages Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) information provided by the end devices to achieve this. The application is built on the react framework, which enables a seamless experience across iOS and Android platforms. The backend operations, handled via Node.js, manage LLDP protocol transactions with the devices.

Seamless Integration and User-Centric Configuration

One of eTagger's strong suits is its integration into existing OAuth systems for enhanced security and management. Moreover, the application offers flexibility in determining which fields to display while writing to NFC.

Users can view and manage all existing location configurations via the Configurations page. This includes adding new location configurations and selecting which configuration to use for reading and writing location to the tag. The application defaults to the ANSI/TIA-606-B generic labelling standard as the location field format. It uses a colon (:) as the default field separator and the default tag size is 137 bytes, aligning with the NTAG-213 NDEF capacity. Functionality for editing, duplicating, or deleting location configurations is straightforward, contributing to a seamless user experience.

Conclusion

eTagger marks a significant step forward in the realm of data center management. This NFC-based cable verification application innovatively replaces traditional manual methods, boosting efficiency and accuracy. With the application available for beta testing on both the App Store and Google Play Store, user feedback will be invaluable in refining and enhancing eTagger's features and capabilities.
